Gov. Nixon makes appointment to Missouri Gaming Commission

JEFFERSON CITY – Gov. Jay Nixon today appointed Herbert (Herb) M. Kohn (D) of Kansas City as a member and Chair of the Missouri Gaming Commission. The Gaming Commission enforces the statutes and regulations relating to charitable bingo and riverboat gambling. This appointment will be subject to confirmation by the Missouri Senate.

 Kohn is senior counsel at Bryan Cave LLP in Kansas City where he practices corporate, business and banking law, concentrating in the areas of acquisitions, financial transactions, banking and public finance. Early in his career, Kohn clerked for the Chief Judge of the Eighth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals and served as Jackson County Counselor from 1972 to 1974.

Active in his community, Kohn is a member of the Civic Council of Greater Kansas City and the Finance Committee of the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. He previously served as Chairman of the United Way Professional Group and as director of the Richard and Annette Bloch Cancer Foundation. The Governor has appointed Kohn for a term ending April 29, 2017.
