RCGA Endorses Proposition A on November 4th Missouri Ballot
Measure Generates Substantial New Revenues for Schools, Benefits Economy
ST. LOUIS, Sept. 30 — The St. Louis Regional Chamber and
Growth Association (RCGA) has endorsed Proposition A, the Schools First
Initiative, noting it will generate more than $100 million per year in new
revenue for Missouri schools, protect more than 12,000 local jobs and benefit
the regional and state economies.
"Voting YES on A is good for our schools and for our economy, particularly
in the St. Louis region," noted RCGA President and Chief Executive Officer
Richard C.D. Fleming. "By increasing the education revenues paid by Missouri
casinos, Prop A will provide millions in new funding for elementary and
secondary schools — with no new taxes on Missouri residents. Prop A also will
help protect thousands of casino jobs in the St. Louis region and help attract
more tourists and revenues here by repealing Missouri's outdated $500 spending
limit and bringing Missouri's casino regulations in line with neighboring
states."
