The Boot Hill Casino and Resort in Dodge City could open Tuesday if
the state approves two controlled demonstrations at the casino.

The
Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission has conditionally certified the
casino. The demonstrations are slated for today and Monday.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned for 11 a.m. on Dec. 16 featuring Gov. Mark Parkinson and other officials.

If
the casino opens Tuesday, it would close that evening and re-open after
the ceremony, said Sharon Stroburg, Boot Hill's marketing director.

The
racing and gaming commission has approved the casino's internal control
systems, security and surveillance plans, slots and table game rules
and procedures, and its responsible gaming plan.

Boot Hill is on track to be the first state-owned casino in Kansas.
