Charitable Games Bulletin
To: All Licensees
From: Barbara Whittle, Charitable Games Manager
Date: November 9, 2018
In the November 6, 2018 general election, Amendment 4 was passed by voters of the State of Missouri. Passage of this amendment will bring about the following change:
Effective December 6, 2018, a member of your organization who meets the requirements and who wishes to volunteer their time for bingo can do so as long as they have been a bona fide member of the licensed organization for six months immediately preceding such participation.
Until December 6, 2018, the current rule regarding membership remains in effect. No volunteer will be added prior to December 6, 2018 unless they meet the existing two-year membership requirement.
Proof of membership is still required for any member you wish to add to your bingo volunteer list. When you submit a member for inclusion on your volunteer list, you must provide their Social Security Number, date of birth, a clear copy of their driver license or state-issued ID, and verification of six month membership. Acceptable documents are a copy of their membership card showing their start date or a copy of your organization’s membership roster showing membership start dates. By supplying the requested information, we will be able to process requests faster and therefore have your new volunteers approved and helping your organization in a timely manner.
Due to the Constitutional amendment, changes will be made to the bingo rule book in the upcoming months. Once the changes are complete and all sections are updated, we will mail out the updated rules to all licensed organizations. This mailing will not go out until spring of 2019. Until then, the statutes and regulations regarding bingo are always available on our web page at www.mgc.dps.mo.gov under the Charitable Games tab.
