MGC Raises Nearly 7,000 Dollars for Food Bank

Staff of the Missouri Gaming Commission has raised nearly 7,000 dollars for the Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri. We pay one dollar to wear jeans and dedicate this money to the Buddy Pack program.

Four New Commissioners

Gov. Nixon appoints four members to the Missouri Gaming Commission

JEFFERSON CITY – Gov. Jay Nixon today appointed four new members to the Missouri Gaming Commission. The Gaming Commission enforces the statutes and regulations relating to charitable bingo and riverboat gambling. The appointments will be subject to confirmation by the Missouri Senate. The Governor has appointed:

  Larry D. Hale (D), of Glencoe. Hale has operated his own legal practice, The Hale Law Firm, in St. Louis since 1995. He was an assistant U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri from 1979 to 1986. From 1999 to 2000, he was assistant special counsel for the Waco Investigation, under the direction of former Sen. John Danforth. Hale obtained his law degree from Saint Louis University School of Law. The Governor has appointed him for a term ending April 29, 2016.

  Brian Jamison (R), of Columbia. Jamison served as an appointed member of the Missouri Board of Probation and Parole from 2008 to 2013. Previously, he was deputy director of the Missouri Department of Public Safety for three years, and a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper for 14 years. The Governor has appointed Jamison for a term ending April 29, 2016.

  Thomas W. Neer (R), of Defiance. Neer most recently served as the Sheriff of St. Charles County from 2005 to 2014. A native of St. Charles, he joined the sheriff’s department as a deputy in 1974, working his way through the ranks as a sergeant, lieutenant and captain before being elected sheriff. Neer’s experience includes professional law enforcement training on the local, state and federal level. The Governor has appointed him for a term ending April 29, 2017.

  Leland M. Shurin (D), of Kansas City. Shurin is managing partner at the Kansas City law firm of Shaffer Lombardo Shurin. He has received numerous professional honors for his legal work, and has been appointed by both state and federal courts as a special master to resolve litigation. Shurin obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri and his law degree from the University of Missouri – Kansas City. The Governor has appointed him for a term ending April 29, 2017.

MGC Former Employee Bob Sneller

Former MGC Employee Bob Sneller and his wife need assistance.  

3 surgeries in 2014 alone, following several others over the years has put Bob and Sandy Sneller's home at risk of foreclosure by mid month.  Mr. Sneller's wife, Sandy, has had two bouts of cancer, numerous other medical problems and both are on Social Security disability. 

$14,000 needs to be raised by January 15, 2015 in order to bring house payments up to date so the house will not be foreclosed upon Jan. 23, 2015 

An account, Operation Stand Your Back – Veteran Sneller Family Home has been set up at Home Savings Bank, PO Box 867, Jefferson City, MO  65102 to accept any donations that individuals, businesses, friends and former colleagues are willing to make. 

Bob and his wife Sandy have consistently supported veterans, their families, cancer efforts and many other community activities throughout the years. 

Bob served with the Air Force in Vietnam and with the Mo National Guard at the aviation support facility as a jet engine mechanic, having deployed to Desert Storm. 

Please help support them during their time of need.  Time is of the essence so please share this through your email and social media lists. 

100% of all donations will go to pay off the debt.  If enough money is not raised the donations will assist with the relocation of Veteran Sneller and his wife.

DPS Employee of the Month from MGC!

        Jared Looser
              

 Jared Looser, Electronic Gaming Device Specialist within the Missouri Gaming Commission, has been selected as the January, 2015 Employee of the Month for the Department of Public Safety.  Jared was selected for this award for his involvement with the creation of the Electronic Gaming Device System (EGDS), which incorporated and organized 20 years of manual tasks into automated traceable records and processes.  Jared’s skill sets and attention to detail enabled him to surpass the scope of daily required duties for the EGDS project, and took the initiative to accept additional duties, of which he demonstrated excellence in the areas of wireless assessment, casino product inventory, user application testing, and user manuals.   Jared’s dedication to the agency and his commitment to the EGDS project speak volumes to its tremendous success.
