Read the story in the St.Louis Post Dispatch.
Pinnacle Entertainment opens River City riverboat gaming casino to the public today at 2p.m. Former Cardinal's star Ozzie Smith will be there, as well as the Clydesdales, and other dignitaries. There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony, complete with a slot handle pull at 2p.m. at the front entrance.
Staff at the Missouri Gaming Commission have been working hard to prepare for the opening of the State's 13th riverboat gaming casino. Gaming changes in Kansas. First, there is this from Gaming Today-
After months of delays, Kansas Entertainment LLC, a
marriage of the casino expertise of Penn National Gaming Inc. (PENN)
and the NASCAR attraction of Kansas Speedway, has been approved to
build and operate a casino in Kansas City, Kansas.
Kansas gaming
laws require that the property be owned by the Kansas Lottery. The
operators must then be approved under the Kansas Expanded Lottery Act
and be licensed by the Racing and Gaming Commission.
Then there is this news from Sumner County- and the Wichita Eagle-
After a 2 1/2-month delay, Sumner County’s casino gained new momentum Tuesday.
The Kansas Lottery reached a verbal agreement with Chisholm Creek
Casino Resort developers on a new contract to build the facility.
“We’re there, I think,” said Ed Van Petten, the lottery’s executive
director, who two weeks ago had questioned whether a deal could be
struck.
The new contract includes amendments to build a hotel at the same
time as the casino and to provide financial safeguards for the
developers in case a competing tribal casino is built in Park City, Van
Petten said.
NBC Action News KSHB-TV's Keith King in Kansas City reports quarter pusher machines can be found around Kansas City. He says this amounts to kids being able to gamble.

Pinnacle Entertainment officials have announced a grand opening date for the River City Casino.
Pending
final regulatory approval by the Missouri Gaming Commission, the 97,000
square foot facility will open for business March 4.
Pinnacle
Entertainment spokesperson Mack Bradley said they still have to fill
more than 350 of the 1200 jobs that facility is creating.
"Everything you can imagine," said Bradley, "from senior management to
finance, to dealers, people working in the cages, valet, housekeeping,
kitchen staff, servers, people who work in the restaurants."
