The Missouri House has rejected a proposal that would have let people keep slot machines in their homes for entertainment purposes only. The legislation by Republican Mark Parkinson of St.Charles went down Monday night on a vote of 139-16.
Parkinson's bill specified that it would still be illegal in Missouri to own a slot machine and use it for gambling. Missouri's existing law lets residents own slot machines only if they're more than 30 years old and the owner does not use it for gambling.
