Macon, Georgia and Video Slots

MACON, Ga. — The city council in Macon is considering new regulations aimed at cracking down on video gambling.

Officials say the regulations would restrict "coin-operated amusement machines" including video poker.

The
Telegraph reports that the ordinance was
approved by a Macon City Council committee, and could come before the
full council meeting for possible final approval on Sept. 18.

The ordinance would limit number of game machines businesses could
have and mandate that they be in plain view of all customers – not
hidden in a back room. Businesses with such machines couldn't be within
100 yards of a church, alcohol-treatment center or housing authority
property, or within 200 yards of a school.

Until this year the state prohibited cities from regulating the machines, but a new law allows some standards.
